And Isaiah cries out concerning Israel: “Though the number of the sons of Israel be as the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them will be saved, for the Lord will carry out his sentence upon the earth fully and without delay.” And as Isaiah predicted, “If the Lord of hosts had not left us offspring, we would have been like Sodom and become like Gomorrah.” Romans 9:27-29
There is a popular belief that everyone will go to heaven. This of course leads people to believe some things that are not biblical. First that since all will go to heaven then all religions must be basically the same. Second, since all people will go the heaven there is no need for hell, maybe some sort of purgatory but not a place of eternal torment.
Unfortunately the Bible is very clear that many, in fact most people, will choose not to be saved. Paul writes that even though Israel’s sons be as the grains of sand in the sea still only a remnant will be saved. So many will refuse to believe, even those in the first century who were eyewitnesses to the miracles of Jesus. Today we see miraculous healing that have no natural explanation. People have near death experiences that are remarkable similar and have no natural explanation, yet so many refuse to believe. We see lives changed when people come to Christ, yet so many refuse to believe.
The simple truth is that most will refuse to believe. Jesus told us that wide is the gate that leads to destruction. Most will go along and take the easy path. Why? Why, when there is so much evidence that points to God will most refuse to believe? Some will be lured in by false religions that sound good but lead to destruction. Others buy into the claims of the Darwinists and new atheist that there is no God. And some have had bad experiences with Christians, churches or their families that cause them to turn away from the truth. Hearts that are so hardened against God that they refuse to let Him in.
God loves each and every one of us. He wishes that all were saved. He will not force Himself on anyone. Everyone in heaven is there by choice. They choose to follow God. Everyone in hell is also there by their own choice. They refused to follow God. If hell is a place where the door is locked from the inside, then heaven is a place where the door is never locked. All anyone has to do is enter.
Have a blessed day,
