Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God; 11 for it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.” So then each of us will give an account of himself to God. Romans 14:10-12
The day is coming, it may be today or it may be a thousand years from now, but we will all have to come before God to give an account of our lives. Some will have to rely solely on their own works and deeds, the good and the bad. As they slowly realize that whatever good they did will not out way the bad and that God is real I can only imagine the anguish that they will feel. To suddenly realize that you had been so terribly wrong and now it is too late to change. To see the glory of God only to know that now you will spend all eternity banished from His presence. To realize it was all your own choosing.
Others will also have to give an accounting but their sins are now covered by the blood of Christ. Paid in full. That this first time before the glory of God will not end but last for all eternity. To come into the joy of your Master. Fully realizing that this joy is not of your doing but is the work of God. Wholly undeserved but yours none the less.
Two people stand before God. One stands on their own having denied God in life they now find that He will honor their choice in life, not forcing them to spend eternity where they choose not to go. The other stands there leaning on the cross of Jesus, knowing they are poor sinners but also knowing that God so loved them that He paid the price for their sins. He will honor their choice in life also. They will spend all eternity with the God they chose to serve in this earthly life.
Have a blessed day,
David
