I never knew you

“Not everyone who says to me, `Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, `Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, `I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ Matthew 7:21-23

Will everyone who calls on the name of Jesus be saved? Unfortunately, no. Just because you recognize Jesus’ existence or use His name in your church or call yourself by His name does not mean you know who He is. Jesus is the name by which we are saved but today’s verse makes it clear that it take more than His name to save us. We have to recognize the real Jesus, the Jesus of the bible.

Unless you recognize Jesus as God you are in trouble, Jesus is not a god He is God. Jesus is not an archangel He is God. Jesus is not a prophet, He is God and He is not a great teacher, sage or guru, He is God. Get my point. We have to believe in the real Jesus not some sanitized version that offend no one. He is the all man all God who healed the blind, raised the dead and preached the Good News to the poor. He is the man who died on a cross and three days later raised from the dead to sit at the right hand of the Father. He is the judge of all creation who ascended to heaven and will come again. He is God. He is Lord.

So when people come to you with their reason why they too are Christian because they have Jesus in their churches name and believe He is a god and brother to Satan or they are Christian because Jesus is the greatest angle ever created by Jehovah or He is the second greatest prophet who will return or Jesus is an ideal we all should try to emulate, tell them to open the bible and read who Jesus really is. Help them to know Him so that when the end comes He will know them

Jesus is not an exalted man. He is not an angel. He is not just a prophet and not just a teacher. He is the alpha and omega. The Lord of all. The Good Shepherd. Our Rock. Our salvation. HE IS GOD.

Have a blessed day,

David

About dwwork

The name of this blog is taken from 1 Peter 3:13 - “always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience. This verse became special to me over ten years ago when I was asked to teach an adult Sunday school class on Christian apologetics. This interest grew over the years to the point that I took some graduate level classes in apologetics. I think the best way to be prepared to give and answer to everyone who asks is to know scripture. It is my hope that through these short devotionals the reader will become more familiar with each verse. I have tried when possible to make them personal hoping in some small way to show that God’s word written over two thousand years ago is still relevant today. In the writing of these short devotionals I have been able to better understand how God’s word impacts my life. It is my hope that you too will come closer to our Lord Jesus and develop a closer relationship with Him. Finally, if the reader finds anything in conflict with scripture please let me know. God’s word is the final authority always overrules anything I might write. David
