It was very good

And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so. And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. Genesis 1:28-31

When God had finished creating the world and all the creatures in it He saw it as very good. And so it was until humans decided rather than obey God they could become like God. It was then that evil gained a foothold on earth. And with evil came spiritual death. Sin was in the world and it would take the greatest sacrifice ever to allow us to overcome our sin nature and get into a right relationship with God.

Even though evil came into the world when Adam and Eve sinned, good never left. We can still see the good in God’s creation. When I see a hummingbird at one of our feeders I see the awe and goodness in creation. When I witnessed the birth of my children is saw the good and innocence in God’s creation. A few months ago I saw a bald eagle fly overhead as I sat in my yard and once again I saw the beauty and goodness in creation.

Sometimes we fixate on all the evil around us and when we do that we miss out on how good God’s creation is. No matter how much evil humans and Satan bring into the world God’s goodness as shown in His creation can never be overshadowed. We can choose to ignore the good and only notice the bad but the good is there we only need open our eyes and see.

On the sixth day God finished creating by bringing humans into the world. Then God looked around at His creation and behold, it was very good.

Have a blessed day,

David

About dwwork

The name of this blog is taken from 1 Peter 3:13 - “always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience. This verse became special to me over ten years ago when I was asked to teach an adult Sunday school class on Christian apologetics. This interest grew over the years to the point that I took some graduate level classes in apologetics. I think the best way to be prepared to give and answer to everyone who asks is to know scripture. It is my hope that through these short devotionals the reader will become more familiar with each verse. I have tried when possible to make them personal hoping in some small way to show that God’s word written over two thousand years ago is still relevant today. In the writing of these short devotionals I have been able to better understand how God’s word impacts my life. It is my hope that you too will come closer to our Lord Jesus and develop a closer relationship with Him. Finally, if the reader finds anything in conflict with scripture please let me know. God’s word is the final authority always overrules anything I might write. David

One Response to It was very good

Very True David, even some Christians focus so much on Satan and his works, they loose sight of the Beauty of God’s creation and also which is most important His Love and protection.

Philippians 4:8 -9 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Eve as you shared David was deceived in believing she could be like God meaning she would be exulted, Satan too chose to glorify himself wanting to be worshiped like God. Adam sinned in that he listened to Eve knowing to do as she asked would be disobeying God which is what the fruit is symbolic of.

Men were created to be in Leadership and woman are a gift from God to them to be cared for and cherished. It is not good for man to be alone so we were created to be their Helpmates, Physically, Mentally and Emotionally and to also encourage and support them spiritually. Women are not to be in Authority over men or teach them in this role, we will find completeness and contentment as women in the role God created us for.

To have deep inner Joy and God’s Peace, we need to obey Him, both Adam and Eve didn’t. It is not wrong for a woman to share God’s Truth with His wisdom and Authority and to correct error, we are all called to do this regardless of our gender and some woman like myself have the gift of Evangelism or teaching but we are to always remain obedient to God and be faithful to the role He created us for when using our gifts, trusting in Him to help us forfill them by the empowering of the Holy Spirit as He has equipped us and motivates.

Christian Love from us both – Anne.
