The LORD has done this

“But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you; or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this? Job 12:7-9 ESV

Two Sundays ago I watched a video call “God of Wonders” which is available for streaming from Netflix. One of the verses they used in the video is today’s verses from the book of Job. In the twelfth chapter Job is answering his friends who essentially are telling Job that he must have done something to incur all the bad things that have happened to him. Job is feeling sorry for himself but still he recognizes that everything in in God’s hands.

I thought this would be a good verse to end our study of Genesis 1 to 3 and it also goes hand and hand with my blog posts on evolution. Even without the Bible there is enough evidence for us to believe in God’s existence. One only has to look at the incredible number of plant and animals to see that there must be some hand in their creation. The enormous complexity of life we see all around us and we are asked to believe it all just happened by random chance with no direction and no plan.

Even the tiniest single celled organism is an enormously complex factory creating proteins and able to replicate itself. And then we look at humans and see how different we are from all other animals. We think. We have free will. We see beauty in nature. All of this cries out for a god and that god is the God of the Bible.

Have a blessed day,

About dwwork

The name of this blog is taken from 1 Peter 3:13 - “always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience. This verse became special to me over ten years ago when I was asked to teach an adult Sunday school class on Christian apologetics. This interest grew over the years to the point that I took some graduate level classes in apologetics. I think the best way to be prepared to give and answer to everyone who asks is to know scripture. It is my hope that through these short devotionals the reader will become more familiar with each verse. I have tried when possible to make them personal hoping in some small way to show that God’s word written over two thousand years ago is still relevant today. In the writing of these short devotionals I have been able to better understand how God’s word impacts my life. It is my hope that you too will come closer to our Lord Jesus and develop a closer relationship with Him. Finally, if the reader finds anything in conflict with scripture please let me know. God’s word is the final authority always overrules anything I might write. David
