If My People Revisited

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Four years ago today on a whim I sent out the below message concerning the above verse from 2 Chronicles. I had no idea that I would still be sending these short essays on God’s Word for this long a period. My best guess is that I have sent out in the neighborhood of 960 over the four years. If you add the post to my blog on weekends and I am probable just shy of 1,000. Who would have guessed I had that many words in me. Now to quote Woody from Cheers, I used a lot of those words more than once. I want to thank all of your for your words of support without which I would have probably given up log ago. I also want to thank the real author of these words, my God, who has entrusted me with this assignment. So let’s take another look at that first email. One thing I noticed is it is quite a bit shorter than the rest.

The above verse has come up twice this week. First this past Sunday in Bible                 Study our teacher used the verse talking about revival. Then on my bus ride this morning I listening to 2 Chronicles and this verse was read.

I know many of us are looking for revival in the US we see our country turning away from its roots and “everyone is doing what is right in their own eyes. But, first revival must start in each of us. As the Lord says we Christians who are called by His name must turn from our worldly ways, repent and be humble and seek God. Only then will He heal our land. Only then can this nation turn back to Him.

Have a blessed day and thanks,

David

About dwwork

The name of this blog is taken from 1 Peter 3:13 - “always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience. This verse became special to me over ten years ago when I was asked to teach an adult Sunday school class on Christian apologetics. This interest grew over the years to the point that I took some graduate level classes in apologetics. I think the best way to be prepared to give and answer to everyone who asks is to know scripture. It is my hope that through these short devotionals the reader will become more familiar with each verse. I have tried when possible to make them personal hoping in some small way to show that God’s word written over two thousand years ago is still relevant today. In the writing of these short devotionals I have been able to better understand how God’s word impacts my life. It is my hope that you too will come closer to our Lord Jesus and develop a closer relationship with Him. Finally, if the reader finds anything in conflict with scripture please let me know. God’s word is the final authority always overrules anything I might write. David
